Lake Stevens

Named for the lake the city surrounds, Lake Stevens is a growing suburban community bordering Everett, Marysville, and Snohomish. Drawn to the shores of the lake, developers sought to create resorts and summer in the earlier 20th century. As the community grew, annexing smaller communities, and welcoming new residents, the area grew from a mostly single-family home area to include multi-family housing as well. With an eye on the future, city leaders here are still working on how to develop their downtown core to create denser housing and more commercial use, including mixed-use buildings and pedestrian-friendly streets. The Lake Stevens School District, which includes one high school, two middle schools, and seven elementary schools, is highly rated.
